This wasn’t the midfield story fans were watching for — Youri Tielemans’ full United debut alongside a rebuilt engine room against elite opposition — but the Shaw-Dorgu-Cunha relationship on the left may end up being the more significant takeaway from Gothenburg. Two more friendlies remain (Leeds on the 12th, Milan on the 15th) before the Premier League opener at Hull on August 22 — worth watching whether Carrick keeps building on this shape or it was situational.

Takeaway: Holding a full-strength PSG side to a draw matters less than how — and the how points to a genuine structural shift on United’s left flank, not just a good day for Mbeumo.
